Vintage Style Home Decor in Megan Alexandra’s Home

The first thing we did after closing on our beautiful new home was tear out the old, ugly kitchen and replace it with a functional one. We had four weeks to do this before moving in so you can imagine how crazy that time period felt! I actually designed the entire kitchen beforehand which definitely helped us stay organized during what could have been an overwhelming experience otherwise.

My husband built the cabinetry himself while I was pregnant with my son. In a panic, we hired professionals to install gas lines and when things went wrong it turned into an unfair experience for us.

They had no idea what they were doing or how to handle such advanced technology in our system which put me on high alert every day of pregnancy fearing that something could go terribly wrong at any minute; but luckily nothing did! Once ready though, there was one final obstacle: building doors myself as 30+ weeks pregnant woman who has never done carpentry before (and without power tools!).

We moved into our house on Christmas Eve, and that very night Clayton installed the faucet so we could have running water.

I felt really accomplished when he was done! We tackled little details in following weeks before things got too busy with work – but one month of renovations will always hold a special place for me because it showed how much this home meant to us both.
