Do you know Standard bedroom radiators?
The sections in this room are very big. They are 12.75 inches tall and 13 inches wide, and they go from the wall to the front of the room. The distance between each section is 13.75 inches, so it gets a lot bigger when you look down a long way. The brackets on each side of the radiator are 10.5 inches away from each other horizontally and 4.5 inches away from each other vertically.
While the installation of the radiator is not a difficult task in itself, it is easy to do a slip-up that can bring you problems down the road.
How does a radiator work?
A radiator works by using natural gas or fuel oil to heat water, which is then circulated through the pipes and into the room.
The heated water enters the room and heats it up before returning to the boiler unit for reheating. The hot water is then recirculated through the radiator again until fully cooled off.
A typical home will have a 120-volt electrical heating element that provides supplementary heat during colder months or times when you do not require full heat from your system.
This type of heating method is known as baseboard heating.

Standard Radiator Dimensions
The standard dimensions of a cast iron wall radiator are as follows:
A flat cast iron radiator measures 12 inches wide, while a curved cast iron radiator is slightly wider at 12.25 inches in width.
The most common standard length is 6 feet long, with some measuring 5 feet, 7.5 feet, 8 feet, or 9 feet long depending on your needs and requirements for function room length. The standard maximum BTU rating is 6,000 Btu’s per linear foot, which equals about 400 watts per linear inch of surface area. You can also purchase radiators that are 7,000 Btu’s per linear foot or higher if you need to heat a bigger room or space.
Standard radiator height is 12 inches tall (measured from the floor to the top of each section) by 3/4 inches thick. The brackets measure 2-1/8 inches long by 5/8 inch thick. At first glance, it might not be obvious, but take a closer look at your old radiator and you will notice the design differences between them and standard radiators.
The major difference is that old cast iron radiators have no water storage tank inside unlike standard modern radiators that do come with a built-in water tank for heating. This means that they can be mounted anywhere on your wall, unlike older styles which are more difficult to install.

4 modern cast iron radiators or 4 radiators?
It is possible to have four wall-style standard radiators mounted onto the wall at equal distances apart, with each one providing heat to a different part of your room.
If you are heating only one room then it is not necessary to place more than one on each wall, but if you are heating multiple rooms or spaces then it is best to install at least two for efficiency purposes.
This does not mean that you can’t buy four and use them all in one large space, just be sure they are properly sized for the maximum BTU rating needed for your requirements.
Standard Radiator Sizing
Every radiator that we use has a different size. We need to know which one you want before we can order it.
One of the most important aspects of correctly sizing your new radiator is to use a radiator size calculator. It’s important because oversizing will provide no benefit and under-sizing can actually lower the efficiency of heat transfer.
This can lead to discomfort and your gas or oil company may request that you upgrade the size of your heating system if their technicians notice a potential problem.
The first step in sizing your new radiator is measuring for length and width:
Standard Bedroom Radiators
1) Measure the room length:
Whether you are using standard radiators, flat panel radiators, towel radiators, or some other style-we recommend allowing 36 inches between each section (center to center).
For example, if your room is 10 feet long then divide by 4 sections (10ft x 4 = 40) plus an additional 3/4 inch allowance for expansion equals 41 inches between each section.
Always measure the actual space your radiator will be mounted into to ensure you are allowing enough room.
2) Measure the width :
Standard radiators are approximately 12 inches wide, although flat panel radiators can be as thin as 10 inches or slightly larger than 12 inches depending on what type you choose.
Factor in an additional 1/2 inch allowance on each side of your radiator to cover for installation purposes.
For example, if you have a 10 foot long by 8-foot wide room then divide by 4 sections (10ft x 3 = 30) plus an additional 1/2 inch allowance on each side equals 31 inches across the wall where your four standard radiators will be installed.
3) The most common question we receive is how many sections will I need for my new radiator?
For example, if you have a 10 feet long room and you are using 4 standard radiators then divide the length by four (10ft / 4 = 2.5), which means that each section of your radiator will measure approximately 5 feet in length minus 1/2 inch on each side for expansion equals 4 sections at 49 inches wide.
When measuring for height be sure to allow some space above and below your chosen style-we recommend 18-20 inches as a minimum depending on the style of radiator you choose. Radiators do come in many different sizes so it’s important to understand your needs before purchasing one, as well as understanding how they work before installing them.
If you feel uncertain or uneasy about installing radiators on your own, whether it’s a standard radiator, towel warmer, flat panel, or some other style- our recommended choice is to hire a local plumber and heating contractor (we recommend using Checkatrade) and ask for references and proof of insurance before hiring one.

The most popular of radiator styles
Although there are many different types of cast iron radiators we’ve chosen the five most common styles that have become the industry standard in the UK.
The first four are considered traditional while the fifth is an alternative option that was designed to solve one problem with older styles which had no built-in easy way to add a towel rail in the future.
The solution is a 5th radiator style which we call a “Towel Radiator Finial” and one of our most popular choices for homeowners looking to add additional towel rails in their home.
1) Standard Vertical Radiator :
These are considered traditional cast iron radiators that have been used in homes for over 100 years. They come in many different styles, heights, widths, and finishes.
One of the most important things to consider before purchasing your new standard vertical radiator is how much you will need to raise them off the floor when installed because they do tend to hang lower than other styles-you’ll want several inches of clearance from your toe if you plan on putting furniture next to them.
The standard height is much lower than a towel warmer radiator and the same as a radiator cover. Standard vertical radiators are normally between 36-48 inches high.
You can also choose from round or square profiles, polished or matt finishes, and optional side panels which will be helpful if you have children that need to learn hot water safety.
2) Vertical Towel Radiator :
Although cast iron radiators have been around for over 100 years many homeowners today are looking for something more stylish that matches their modern decor that’s why we recommend vertical towel radiators which were designed with exactly this in mind.
They come in a wide range of styles including both traditional and contemporary options so it should be easy to find one to fit any home design.
They also come in a range of different colors and finishes that can be customized to your exact needs. The ends are removable for easy installation, the height is adjustable, and you will find them available in both vertical and horizontal profiles

3) Horizontal Towel Radiator :
If you’re looking for something different from standard radiators then this might be a good choice because it pairs a horizontal profile with a sturdy metal towel rail. They come in both polished and matt finishes, along with round or square options.
One of our most popular styles is the Armitage Napoleon which has been designed to accommodate larger towels while remaining compact enough to fit almost anywhere.
It’s available as both traditional cast iron and as an alternative electric version so it’s also a good choice if you’re looking for something more energy-efficient.
4) Quadrant Towel Radiator :
One problem with standard towel radiators is that it might be difficult to find one which will fit the space you have that’s why we recommend quadrant radiator covers instead.
They can come in many different styles including traditional cast iron, stainless steel, and even some with glass panels. The most popular are the Vintage Style Robur which comes as both polished cast iron and stainless steel.
It also has modern features like an adjustable height so this could be a good choice regardless of the number of towel rails that need to be installed.
5) Towel Radiator Finial :
Many homeowners that install new towel rails on their radiators simply end up with empty holes in their wall when they’re finished. We’ve come up with a solution to this problem by producing towel radiator finials that will neatly cover these empty holes.
They can be installed in about 10 minutes but their sturdy construction means they work just as well as towel rail covers and should last for many years. All you need is a screwdriver-no plumbing or welding skills required!

6) Convector Radiator:
Although modern convector heaters are better known, we also offer cast iron radiators which were used for central heating over 100 years ago.
They provide the best possible heat transfer and will fit almost any existing central heating system so it might be worth looking into if you want something similar to traditional radiators.
7) Electric Radiator:
Heating your home is now easier with electric radiators which come in a wide range of styles and sizes.
They normally cost about the same as ordinary gas or oil heating, but they don’t require any plumbing-so installation is easy and fast!
We also offer special electric towel rails if you want to avoid cold air drafts caused by normal convector heaters. It might not look as traditional as cast iron radiators, but it’s an affordable way to stay warm during the winter months.
8) Plinth Heater:
Although cast iron radiators are usually installed under windows, many homeowners prefer to use plinth heaters instead.
If you’re using your radiator for central heating then this could be a good choice because it provides the same amount of heat while using less space.
You can also add radiators to one or both sides if you want to increase their capacity for heating.
What’s more, they come in a range of finishes and styles, which means you can find one that will fit into your home design without having to make any changes.

9) Under Window Heater:
Another option for central heating is an under window plinth heater which is installed between floorboards without taking up any additional space.
They’re perfect if you’re looking for something slimline but effective, making them great for anyone who doesn’t have much room around their windows.
As well as being slimline, this style also comes with adjustable feet so it can be installed at any height.
10) Corner Heater:
We also offer under window radiators which are perfect for cramped corners. It comes in a choice of cast iron styles including traditional, contemporary, and modern so you can find something that will work with your home design.
The central heating radiator is also easy to install even if you don’t have much floor space to spare!
11) Under Window Radiator:
We finish our list off with another cast iron under the window radiator which is available in both traditional and modern styles to suit all tastes.
They’re great if you only have enough room for one or two, especially because they come as slimline models that are almost flush against the wall so it won’t take up much space at all! The central heating radiator is also available in five different sizes so you can find something to fit almost any room.
12) Central Heating Radiator:
If your radiator isn’t currently being used for central heating, then you might want to consider buying a special type of rack that will hold both towels and radiators.
We offer these towel radiators as single units or multi-rack systems depending on how many towels rails and/or radiators you need.
They’re available in both chrome and brushed steel finishes, which means they’ll look good with any home design.
What’s more, the separate parts make them easy to install even if you don’t have much time or experience!

13) Underfloor Radiator:
When it comes to heating your home, underfloor heating is one of the most efficient and cost-effective methods. Our cast iron radiators are perfect for this job because they heat up very fast and can provide a steady supply of warmth throughout the winter season.
They’re usually installed on top of wooden floorboards so it’s easy to run pipes underneath before fitting them into place.
14) Towel Rail:
A popular way to create extra storage space without taking up much room is by using a towel radiator or two. We offer both traditional-style cast iron radiators as well as modern stainless steel models that will fit with any contemporary style.
If you’re only buying one then we recommend going for a chrome towel radiator since it’s available in all sizes and shapes so you should easily be able to find one that fits into your bathroom.
15) Modern Radiators:
If you want to buy more than one towel rail, think about buying a multi-rack radiator. These come with three or more bars which will allow you to hang more towels at once!
They’re available in both chrome and brushed steel finishes, so they’ll blend in with any home design.

How to choose a radiator for the bedroom?
So, you decided to buy a radiator for the bedroom?
You are lucky enough because it isn’t just an ordinary radiator, but one of the top radiators in 2018. They are designed to keep warm not only your house during winter but also your body. Most of them have special finishes that make them much more stylish than other types of radiators.
This is by the way great news because now you can heat up not only all household rooms with these appliances but decorate any room in the house as well.
A modern design would be suitable for both classic and contemporary interior decoration.
The sizes are different which means that there are no restrictions on the size of the wall where they should be put into action. Nowadays you can find a wide range of radiators for all tastes. You can choose from original vintage ones via modern minimalistic ones too much more luxurious and expensive designer models.
The most popular colors are the white, black and silver ones because they go well with almost any furniture you have in your house (or want to buy). For example, you could put a radiator into an ordinary kitchen and it will look like a part of the furniture: one color, simple design, and compact size.
These positive elements make them close to invisible which means that it is very easy to forget about them while decorating the room (which shouldn’t be considered ugly or old-fashioned).
The main thing is not to take anything for granted but also think over other factors such as the size and shape of the room you want to heat up.
There are lots of different models on the market, but not all of them can be used for heating up your bedroom (and even living room). It should be mentioned that there are some things that influence this decision that you should take into consideration before buying one.
You know that bedrooms usually have limited space which means that it will be better for you to choose a radiator with narrow width and small height (or depth if we talk about floor radiators). Also, tall people may think about getting a low-profile model because they won’t make you feel uncomfortable while sleeping or relaxing in bed.
Eventually, we hope that our tips will help you buy your dream radiator – remember to check the size of your room and choose the right color in order to bring warmth, coziness and comfort into your bedroom.
Your bedroom is one of the most important rooms in your house because you spend quite a lot of time relaxing, cuddling with your partner, or enjoying peaceful sleep after an exhausting day.
It means that it should be decorated in such a way so as to provide you with the necessary comfort and warmth during winter nights. It’s not just about having an ordinary radiator but also about choosing the fittest model according to its design and size.
This article will help you get familiarized with all factors that influence this process including different types of radiators (standing ones, wall-mounted ones), materials used for their manufacturing (steel, cast iron), size, and shape.
Standing radiators can be both wall-mounted and freestanding ones.
If you choose the first variant, it will be easier to decorate your bedroom as well as improve room air circulation. Usually, they come in various sizes: from small (20 inches wide and 15 inches high) to extra large (50 inches wide and 30 inches high).
You should also pay attention to whether it has a radiator valve or not. It isn’t just about basic models but about those that have such additional features as ‘cheaper price’ or ‘more heat’.
The best floor standing radiators for bedrooms are those that match perfectly with the interior design of the room. They don’t take much space which means that they won’t interfere with the look of your bedroom. When choosing one, you should think over its length and width because it determines how much heat it will produce.
If you have a small room, choose a radiator that is narrow enough to achieve optimal efficiency.
Standard Bedroom Radiators
The most important factor that should influence your decision is the purpose for which you are going to use this device. If you want to keep only one person warm then there are some models that provide more heat than others do.
You can find radiator covers on the market as well – it’s an alternative solution but doesn’t always work because not everybody likes using them (they may also affect rather efficient convection).
There are lots of materials used for manufacturing radiators including aluminum, cast iron, steel, and copper. Usually, people choose cast iron radiators when they want to provide warm air in medium or large rooms (the size of standard ones is 50 inches).
If you don’t like the idea of having heavy radiators in your bedroom then maybe it would be better for you to search for light-standing models with aluminum frames covered by powder coating.
Just check how durable it is before buying – its main advantage will stay being lightweight so it’s up to you not just about the material but also about choosing a durable paint finish for it.
Wall-mounted radiators are usually made of steel and have a thin profile which makes them ideal for small bedrooms where only one person spends time there from time to time.
If conditions change and there is one more person in your bedroom then you should buy a freestanding device that will provide warmth for everyone staying in the room.
You may need to know about radiator valves before purchasing this type of radiator. They are used to control the flow of hot water through radiators – this way, you can raise or lower the heat when needed. If there is no valve, it means that your radiator will be much simpler and less expensive.
Radiator covers are another alternative when searching for the best floor-standing radiators for bedrooms – they fit perfectly with modern interior design trends but don’t always work because not every person likes using them (they may also affect efficient convection).

What radiators give off the most heat?
Radiators shall give off the most heat when they have a larger surface area and a lower temperature. The table below shows the radiator’s rated maximum capacity for different wattage ratings. As you can see, increasing radiator size is more beneficial to performance than increasing wattage rating.
If your cooling system already has one 360mm radiator which draws around 500W from the wall at full speed it will be much better for heat dissipation to add another 360mm radiator with the same 500W compared to buying a 1500W 240mm solution even if that would cost more upfront.
For example, 2 x RX360 V3 in push-pull mode requires about 1000W of power from the wall, this means that two 450W radiators would actually pull more power from the wall than one 1000W radiator which is very inefficient.
Radiator Size (mm) 240 360 480 640 FPI / fin density 30 / fpi 25 / fpi 20 / fpi 20 / fpi Wattage Rating 450 750 1050 1500 Surface Area (cm2) 99 263 435 753,5
How much heat can be dissipated by a Noctua heatsink?
The cooler’s thermal design power (TDP), specified as wattage dissipated per hour, defines how much heat a cooling device is capable of handling. Since this specification is not based on any unit of measurements such as degrees Celsius or joules, we use it as a guideline to help customers choose suitable coolers. In the case of a CPU cooler, it typically specifies how much heat is dissipated by a single fan in an optimal scenario.
For example, A TY-150 air cooler with one 150mm PWM fan has a TDP rating of 150W.
The same cooler design with 2x TY-150 fans would be rated at 300W because the second fan running in tandem pulls more air through the radiator which means that this cooler could handle CPUs that dissipate more heat concurrently to the heatsink’s surface area and airflow characteristics.
How can I check whether my case is wide/high enough for the cooler?
Most case manufacturers provide specifications for maximum CPU cooler height/clearance. Please refer to these specifications in order to verify that the cooler will fit the case.
If no specifications are available, please contact the case manufacturer or measure the distance from the motherboard tray to the side panel (tower cases) or top panel (desktop cases). If this distance is bigger than the height of the cooler + 15mm (mainboard spacers + mainboard + CPU), it will fit.
Conclusion
The radiator is a great heating system because it provides heat from multiple directions. The radiant heat from these radiators can help to warm up a room in no time at all and they are also cheaper than other types of heating systems.
