Rolling Clothes Rack Diy | Step by Step

If you are looking for a garment rack or a closet at an affordable price, or if you have space issues with your bedroom or laundry and need a solution, why don’t you come up with the idea of making a rolling clothes rack DIY?

This is because you can easily move this rack and hang your clothes conveniently, and building a rolling clothes rack DIY is really simple and economical.

I had the intention of making a rolling clothes rack DIY for my room by myself and I finally made it happen with my efforts!

I find it so convenient to use it when I’m doing laundry, planning my outfits for the week, or working on sewing projects.

Additionally, this rolling clothes rack DIY also serves as a coat rack in an entryway.

You can try placing a basket on it, which would give you a space to put shoes in.  Please follow me and see how I made it.

What You’ll Need for Rolling Clothes Rack Diy:

  1. Paint –  I bought a quart and I probably only used half
  2. Paintbrush
  3. (1) cut of wood – mine is a little over 1″ thick + 30″ x 17.5″  (Note: I determined my board size based on the pipe length of my smallest pipe.)
  4. (2) long pipes I used ½”  thick poles that are about 60″ long
  5. (1) short pipe – I used a ½” thick pole that is about 25″ long
  6. (2) ½”  90° elbow attachments to connect the pipes
  7. (2) ½”  floor flanges
  8. (4) 2″ rubber wheels with swivel plate casters
  9. (24) 1″ screws
  10. screwdriver

Directions:

  1. The process of making a rolling clothes rack DIY begins with having your four rubber wheels screwed on to each corner of the board but you should ensure that the wheel wouldn’t stick out from the board at all if it rotated in any direction before screwing them in.
  2. The next step is flipping your board over to paint the top and sides of the board.  Regarding mine, it took a couple of coats and I didn’t paint the bottom.
  3. Now It’s time to start having the three pipes connected to the board. (*Note:  I used Goo Gone to clean the pipes as they had a greasy residue from the hardware store on them)
  4. After your board gets dried, pick one of your floor flanges and screw it onto the top of the board close to the edge and centered to the width of the board.
  5. Next, continue the process by screwing one of your long pipes into that floor flange. Then an elbow should be screwed onto the top of that pipe while you have to keep the elbow facing inward. (a crucial step you must consider to have rolling clothes rack)
  6. Has the smallest pipe screwed into that elbow? After you attach the second elbow to the other end, you should attach your second long pipe to that elbow.

****So make sure that all your pipes are connected to each other but only connected to the board on one side.

  1. Have your second-floor flange screwed onto the end of your last pipe, which enables you to place the flange on the board opposite the other and screw it to the board.
  2. Painting the pipe and all the pipe hardware is the last step of this process. It took me a couple of coats to paint and I had to touch up a bunch of places as it dried.
  3. Wait until it dries and you can start hanging clothes!

TOTAL COST = around $60

This process is easy, right? I hope that after having a look at the way I made a rolling clothes rack DIY by myself, you can also make one, and don’t hesitate to share with me if you finish it! I’m looking forward to seeing it!
