However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth! The width of your basement stairs can have an effect on how much traffic they’ll see in your home.

36 inches is the minimum width for stairs. The length is 42-48 inches. You can have a dramatic flair at the bottom of the stairs by going wider than 36 inches.
Basement stairs are not unlike regular stairs.

If you’re using some random off-the-shelf steps and someone trips causing injury or worse, then you’re going to have a massive lawsuit on your hands.
